Structural and Field Geology Introduction

Structural and Field Geology Introduction

Manly 2 parts
  • Geological mapping
  • Structural analysis / Geological (Foliation , Fold , Fault , Joints)
Geological maps
Geological maps comprise information on rock types and their structural and subsurface occurrence

Application
Basic tools of information for any projects on the ground
  • Engineering geological projects
  • Tunnelling
  • Mining
  • Mineral exploration / Ground water
  • Landscape Planning
  • Disaster analysis

How to make Geological map ?
  • Lab work/indo    -  pre-field

                                   -   post- field
  • Field work

Lab work

  •         Available geological maps / reports / cross sections etc.
  •         Remote sensing / aerial photo interpretation ( photo geology )

Field work

  •         Lithological mapping
  •         Structural mapping
  •         Interpretation

Lab- plotting / compilation map
